Sankofa Lounge and Bar | Restaurant | Surulere, Lagos

I'll probably have rated it a zero. First of all, accessing the restaurant/lounge was stressful, the elevator didn't work and there was nobody to direct me to the location. After I painfully found my way, I entered the lounge and it was extremely hot and stuffy. The AC didn't work and I could hear customers seated complain bitterly. The staff were not friendly or welcoming, all they were concerned about it taking the order At the point of placing the order, the menu was super pricey and didn't match the service or ambience experienced. I located this place via an influencer's post and it was a lie. I would never go there and would advise you to save your time and money and check out other places around who are more welcoming and have a conducive environment for guests. If I'm paying a lot of money, I should get value. A final advise to the business owners, invest in training your staff to be emotive, friendly and attentive. I would not recommend. Horrible service -1/10

I visited Sankofa for the daily breakfast buffet. My experience was quite underwhelming because of the extremely limited options. The restaurant provide only three meals and despite the presence of only four partakers in the buffet, I did not get enough to eat. The menu listed on Sankofa's Instagram is nothing like what you get at the actual restaurant. The chef also seemed to have an overzealous relationship with fish because everything tasted extremely fishy. Despite the promise of teas and juices, the only available drink was a milkshake which was served in the smallest size of styrofoam. I did not feel like I got my money's worth at Sankofa. However, I liked the customer service, even though the waitstaff was slightly inattentive.

I'd recommend Sankofa Lounge for a chill evening spot. It's a low-key vibe, not too loud or crowded, making it perfect for unwinding. Their breakfast buffet is also a great deal - affordable and satisfying.

The space actually a karaoke scenes so if you're not the sound type you may find it a bit loud. Their food is great.

The food was absolutely as delicious as it looked. Plus, the service was great. Only issue I had was that the flytraps were way too high up so we spent half the time chasing away a few pesky flies. But honestly, I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and service. Most definitely coming back.
